As the global pandemic shuttered galleries and impeded in-person art experiences, Soulmate emerged as an innovative solution to bring artwork directly to the people. This interactive digital art project, created using Spark AR Studio, can be accessed through the “Soulmate” filter on Instagram (@MadeByLeoWang) and enjoyed from any corner of the world. It features two representations of the artist’s head, one in pink and the other in gold, continuously kissing.
Each head exudes a distinct #SOFAB charm, reflecting the artist’s exploration of self-love and self-celebration, especially during times of isolation. By reimagining the iconic V-J Day in Times Square scene, the piece envisions a post-pandemic world where we can freely kiss and celebrate, just as we can now interact with this immersive filter from any location, transcending geographical limitations and embracing the digital realm.
