Toilet paper and ink
Dimensions variable
As social media becomes part of routine lives, this piece calls attention to the mindless consumption of information and images on social networks. Just like toilet paper, social media, especially Instagram, is cheap yet wasteful while essential, worthless while valuable. This piece materializes the action of scrolling down Instagram, consuming without acknowledging the quantity of paper expended. The value of the content created does not always reflect the cost of production and the fame linked to many “influencers” is as disposable and temporary as the material. The mass production and mass consumerism of both - the toilet paper and media content - reflect the demand and dependency for their consumption as they are valued only as mundane products.
