Unsealing the globe
Security stickers and PVC balloon
60 x 60 x 60 in.
This 5-feet-long disco globe is covered by hologram security stickers. Once removed, they would leave “void” marks. Capitalism monitors both laborers and consumers via these shiny stickers. Viewers are asked to peel them off, imitating the process of being a consumer. Putting on these stickers is the last step of a production line and peeling them off is the first step of consumption. By repeatedly peeling them one by one, the viewers are no different from the laborers who stick them on. This see-through disco ball allows viewers to see the other side of it through the gaps. This classic party decoration becomes a symbol for cheap labor on the other side of the globe.
