Quilted Emptiness (Live) is a live performance installation composed of a DJ mix-table and an installation of thirty-five round quilts, held by clothespins and hanging from the ceiling. The artist is at the mix-table, right next to the DJ, performing a recreation of a clubbing scene: dancing to loud music, drinking Jägermeister and Red Bull, and all the while fabricating disco-ball-like quilts at a sewing machine.

These suspended quilts attract and interact with viewers. Rather than serving the quotidian purpose of blanketing, the warmth here is the fleeting comfort of clubbing. As a retreat from everyday issues, partying and celebration may seem trivial, but such moments of escape can be critical for survival — a dazzling, communal utopia before we are forced to face reality again, this time alone.
